NEW DANCE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER |

Patricia Murphy has now undertaken the role of Dance Development Officer for Waterford Youth Arts.
Trish has a strong tie with Waterford Youth Arts, having once been a member herself many moons ago! In her teens she was a member of Waterford Youth Drama, then later became a member of the dance workshops under the careful direction of Libby Seward. After numerous performance productions and an international dance exchange programme, Trish went on to train at the Firkin Crane (Institute for Choreography and Dance) in Cork and subsequently on to Liverpool John Moores University, graduating in 2007 with a BA (Hons) degree in Dance: Physical Theatre. Since returning to Waterford after her studies, Trish has incorporated the policies of WYA reaching the community through artistic endeavors. She has very much enjoyed working with Libby Seward on a variety of dance productions, workshops and outreach programmes at a local and national level. In January 2009 Trish was awarded the role of Dance Practitioner of WYDmoves (the Dance Unit of WYA). |

Trish will continue to build on the success of the vibrant contemporary dance work of previous projects and productions. As a young person who was once a WYA member herself, she knows that there is a constant need to stay current and relevant to the members’ needs and expressions. A variety of eclectic styles of dance will be respected and the input of each individual will be integrated into the classes and new choreographic projects. Young people interested in dance, theatre and choreography will have the chance to learn new skills and techniques in a safe and fun environment with many performance opportunities along the way. Trish hopes to empower young people through the exploration of dance, movement, choreography and performance, allowing for expression of creativity and self development.
