Transition Year Touring ProductionWYA toured a new devised show called "Him, Her, Here, There" to Transition Years in Secondary schools in the South East from March 3rd to March 14th, 2008. The show was directed and performed by Ruth O'Connell (who is an ex-tutor) and also had Elizabeth Rose Browne and James Rockett performing. The show toured Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny and Tipperary. The show and workshop is supported through Irish Aid, Development Education Unit and the Teachers Pack was created in conjunction with the Waterford One World Centre. “I want to live in Europe where everything is perfect, where I can study and have a better life. In Europe, everything will work for me, I just know it. I will make my parents proud.” (Lillian - a character from "Him, Her, Here, There"). The play explores the issue of gender equality for women in the context of life in a developing country and Ireland. Using the story of Lillian, a young woman who has ended up in Ireland because of various choices made for and by her, "Him, Her, Here, There" looks at gender issues in Ireland and overseas through her eyes |
