KEITH GROGAN AND JAMES ROCKETT
IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CAST
This
play was the result of a process in which the Workshop leaders,
with the help of the cast, come up with a starting point. This can
be anything - a word, a colour or, in the case of 'Two Towns' -
'a girl walks into a village'! We had three diferent workshop
locations in the 9-12 year group (Ferrybank, Ballybeg and Johns
Park) totalling 50 Members, and we had to begin working on the play
with each group separately. They didn't meet each other until two
days before the public performance.
The
play is set in the present and contrasts a traditional fishing
community stuck in the 1940s with the consumerism and urban developments
of a neighbouring town.
