Art or Vandalism?Graffiti is loud and proud in the public's face, even though it may not be in favour. We see messages and pictures adorned on walls and public buildings. But can graffiti be recognized as an artistic talent? Vandal, a new play by Nicholas Kavanagh, explores one boy’s conflict between his acts of vandalism and the legal form of art. This play has a strong realistic feel and shows the consequence of his actions and how his life-changing experience encouraged him to take the high road. It presents the message that following the crowd isn’t all that it's cracked up to be. The talented writer and actors treat their young audience to a show filled with graffiti, art and strong debate.Vandal is touring Waterford Secondary Schools from March 8th-19th. Vandal is a theatre in education play by Waterford Youth Arts and is funded by the Environment Section of Waterford City Council.VANDAL, starring Nicholas Kavanagh and Mary-Louise Mc Carthy, written by Nicholas Kavanagh, directed by Eoin Ó hAnnracháin. |
