Dance Workshops
Join Waterford Youth Arts for nine weeks of exciting contemporary youth dance workshops.
Our contemporary youth dance workshops is led by practitioner Izzy Carr, focusing on technical skills development and creative expression leading to performances and sharing's by children and young people.
Izzy Carr is a graduate of Guilford School of Acting where she studied ballet, jazz and tap. She attended Dance Xchange from 2011-2012 studying under the principal dancers and soloists of Birmingham Royal Ballet. Izzy has choreographed a number of shows and musicals in Waterford and is teaching dance for over 10 years.
Dance workshops will focus on the enjoyment and creativity of the participants, exploring styles and techniques. Teamwork and self expression are encouraged and each session, young people are encouraged to contribute and incorporate their own ideas.
There are a number of physical benefits to dance, such as improved strength, co-ordination and physical wellbeing. At Waterford Youth Arts, we want to nurture a love of dance and to celebrate each individual, their strengths and self-expression.
At the end of each term every class will have a piece to perform, sharing techniques and exercises that we have learned throughout the term.
At Waterford Youth Arts, there are procedures in place, guiding what we do and how we work together to remain safe in our creative workshops. The safety of young people and children is paramount.
Dance costs €45 per term. There are discounts for more than one family member. If any child has a difficulty paying the fee, then speak to us at WYA about our bursary scheme.
