A Captivating Journey: SABA'S SWIM
In "SABA'S SWIM," playwright Danusia Samal weaves a tale of mystery, friendship, and the power of dreams that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats. Directed by Sinéad Hourigan and stage managed by Mary O Donoghue, the narrative takes us through the lives of Saba and her friends as they navigate a labyrinth of clues and emotions, leading to an unexpected climax.
The storytelling prowess shines brightly as it delicately balances moments of tension, humour, and heartfelt connection. Each character is brought to life with remarkable depth, making the audience feel as if they are part of the friendship group, sharing in their joys and struggles.
The play's setting, a school with its familiar yet haunting atmosphere, adds an intriguing layer to the unfolding drama. The seamless transitions between scenes and the clever use of physical space contribute to a dynamic and immersive theatre experience.
One of the most striking elements of "SABA'S SWIM" is the way it tackles complex themes such as mental health, loyalty, and the search for identity. Without ever becoming preachy, the play invites the audience to reflect on their own lives and relationships.
With its compelling narrative, multifaceted characters, and thought-provoking themes, "SABA'S SWIM" is a must-see for anyone who loves theatre that challenges the mind and touches the heart. Don't miss the chance to witness this captivating journey that will leave you thinking long after the final curtain falls.

Waterford Youth Arts are delighted to be part of National Connections 2025, continuing their great history with the project that dates back to 1997. National Theatre Connections is one of the biggest celebrations of youth theatre in the world. Each year, the National Theatre will commission writers to produce new plays specifically for an ensemble of young actors, and will then invite a select number of companies to produce them.
We are delighted to be back for the 30th anniversary year with "Saba’s Swim" by Danusia Samal, Danusia Samal is an actor, writer & jazz singer from London.
